Arts vs. terrorism… Syrian musical heritage performed on sidelines of Int’l Media Conference Against Terrorism

Damascus, SANA – Participants of the International Media Conference Against Terrorism had the chance to get introduced to the musical heritage of the country within an evening concert containing patriotic, traditional and new songs representing the cultural diversity and richness of Syria.

For five years, the Mediterranean country, which was home for many ancient civilizations, has been fiercely combating the ugliness of systematic terrorism that puts its entity, culture and civilization at stake and on the other hand all world nations and humanitarian organizations before their responsibilities.

The musical evening started with Agyal (generations) Orchestra for the traditional Oriental ensemble or (takht) led by Maestro Nazih As’aad and then Agyal performed along with the Oreintal Orchestra a panoramic medley of popular songs from different parts of Syria to recall the cultural diversity in a message asserting that arts could be a weapon for fighting the dark mentality of extremist terrorism.
