Large fire brought under control in Homs western countryside, damage minimal

Homs, SANA – Firefighters and civil defense personnel manage to bring most of a large fire that erupted on Friday morning in farmlands in Homs province’s western countryside under control.

Homs Governor Talal al-Barazi told SANA that the fire covered 32 points in the areas of Shen and a number of its villages, Talkalakh and a number of its villages, and some villages in al-Nadara Valley.

The Governor said that firefighters and civil defense and Homs Agriculture Directorate personnel rushed to deal with the fire and have so far managed to bring 90% of it under control, expecting that the fire will be put out completely within a few hours.

He asserted that the fire caused minimal damage to vegetation and plants, and that there were no human casualties or injuries, adding that ambulances are nonetheless stationed in all appropriate points and are at full readiness.
