Legislative decree exempts cattle imported for raising purposes from fees

Damascus, SANA – President Bashar al-Assad issued legislative decree no. 30 for 2015 which exempts cattle imported for the purpose of raising and breeding from customs, taxes, and other fees.

Assistant Agriculture Minister Ahmad Qadish told SANA that this decree will reduce the cost of importing cattle and therefore will encourage cattle raisers to purchase them.

Qadish said that the livestock sector in Syria has been affected to a considerable degree by terrorism and acts of theft due to the current crisis in the country, which led to a decrease in milk and dairy production, which prompted consideration of importing cattle with high production rates from trusted sources, such as Holstein Friesian cattle.

In turn, Chairman of the Federation of Syrian Agriculture Chambers Mohammad Kashto said that the decree will lower the price of imported cattle to around SYP 50,000 per cow.
