Amman, SANA- Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Jaafar Hassan stressed the necessity of creating conditions for the voluntary and safe return of Syrian refugees, stressing the important role of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in creating conditions for that return.
“We stress the importance of the partnership between Jordan and the UNHCR in providing basic services to refugees,” Jordan News Agency (Petra) quoted Hassan as saying during his meeting with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi on Thursday.
Hassan pointed out the need for the international community and donor countries to continue providing the necessary support to the countries hosting them, and to work on creating conditions for their spontaneous and safe return to their country.
In turn, Grandi expressed the appreciation of the UNHCR for the efforts made by Jordan in hosting Syrian refugees, stressing that the Commission is in the process of developing a comprehensive plan on assisting Syrian refugees returning to their country and the countries hosting them.
