European Commission prepares a plan for affordable energy in Europe

Brussels, SANA- Reducing energy prices in the European Union is a top priority, and measures to achieve this will be revealed next month, according to European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen.

Von der Leyen said in statements Wednesday that she “intends to present a plan for affordable energy next February,”adding: “Energy prices in Europe are higher than in the United States and China, and vary greatly within the European Union, and must fall as we complete the phasing out of Russian fossil fuels.”

Von der Leyen added that diversifying energy suppliers and “investing in next-generation clean energy technologies are key to reduce prices.
