Damascus-SANA- To participate in 14th Iran’s presidential elections, Iranians residing in Syria headed to the polling stations accredited by the their embassy in several provinces since 8:00 am today.
After casting his vote, Hussein Akbari, the Iranian Ambassador to Syria, stressed in a press statement that voting in the elections is one of the indicators of democracy along with the people power.
According to the Iranian constitution, citizens who participate in these elections enjoy full freedom to vote for their electoral candidate, Akbari underlined.
Ambassador Akbari stated that in Syria there are approximately 12,000 Iranian residents of which 6,000 are expected to vote, noting that ballot boxes were distributed across Syria, with 8 ones were put in Damascus.
