Syria, UN set to enhance cooperation in relief work

Damascus, SANA-Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs, Minister of Local Administration Omar Ibrahim Ghalawanji stressed the importance of cooperation in relief work between the Syrian government and UN organizations working in Syria.

During his meeting on Thursday with the U.N. Resident Coordinator in Syria Yacoub al Helou, Ghalawanji, who is current chair of the Higher Relief Committee, said the Syrian government is ready to offer all facilitations for the work of UN organizations striving to get aid to those who need it.

He said the Syrian government has spared no effort to rebuild damaged infrastructure and provide living and social services for crisis-stricken areas, adopting a slew of measures to ease the suffering of displaced citizens and meet their needs.

The UN official, for his part, said the UN is committed to a solid relation with the Syrian government in the efforts to bring deliverance to afflicted Syrians.
