Mikdad receives credentials of new Head of ICRC in Syria

Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, received on Thursday credentials of Stephan Sakalian as new Head of ICRC delegation in Syria.

Mikdad hailed the fruitful cooperation between Syria and ICRC and attached great attention to the key role played by ICRC and SARC in the domain of the humanitarian work.

Minister Mikdad briefed Sakalian with the humanitarian and livelihood situation in Syria, underlining the importance of delivering the aid to the people in need.

Mikdad talked about the inhuman effect of the economic sanctions imposed on the Syrians by the US and the West, decrying the attempts of politicizing the humanitarian file and delivering the aid to the terrorist groups.

Sakalian, for his part, underscored that ICRC is looking forward to strengthening the partnership with the Syrian government in the domain of the humanitarian work in cooperation with SARC.
