Premier al-Halaqi and Russian Ambassador discuss boosting economic cooperation

Damascus, SANA – Primer Wael al-Halaqi discussed with Russian Ambassador in Damascus Alexander Kinschaka ways to activate the agreements signed between Syria and Russia.

During their meeting on Thursday, both sides discussed the issue of reaching and signing new agreements that cover the fields of electric power, drinking water, higher education, transport, petroleum, mills and granaries.

Al-Halaqi affirmed the Syrian government’s desire to open new economic cooperation channels with the friendly countries, with Russia being among the top, a thing that would help reduce the bad effects of the unjust economic blockade imposed on the country.

Achieving that end includes providing the needed foodstuffs, wheat and oil derivatives, the Premier added.

He renewed his invitation to Russian companies to boost investment and service projects in Syria and contribute to the reconstruction process.

For his part, the Russian Ambassador pointed out that Russia has a genuine desire to develop economic, trade and industrial relations with Syria and enhance the latter’s capabilities, expressing his confidence in the Syrian people’ ability in strongly resisting and combating terrorism.
