Clark: We appreciate Syrian people’s heroic struggle against terrorism

Damascus, SANA- Presidential political and media advisor Buthaina Shaaban met on Wednesday a number of US activists, led by former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark who listened to a detailed brief on the reality of events in Syria.

During the meeting, Shaaban said President Bashar al-Assad and Syrian people appreciate the delegation’s visit, wondering, in a letter sent to the Americans upon a request by members of the delegation “Who is the beneficiary side from the war on Syria at a time when the target has exceeded the personality of the President or government to go beyond to the destruction of Syria.”

“The visit of the US delegation is important as it is the first since the beginning of the crisis, led by  Ramsey Clark who has occupied many posts in the US and represents a very important body corporate for the American people,” Shaaban told the Syrian TV in a statement.

She added that what will Mr. Clark say when he returns to his country is important to be heard by the America people, and “when I asked him who is the beneficiary one from the war on Syria and why the US supports this war, Clark said that the reason is the US desire in destruction, as it did in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya.”

Clark, for his part, said the aim of the visit is to find more opportunities for dialogue and coordination among the Syrian and American people, adding “we saw culture and credibility in Syria and we appreciate the struggle of this people, affirming “We will disallow them to shift Syria into Iraq or Libya.”

For her part, Cynthia McKinney, former member at the US Congress, highly appreciated “Syria’s heroic stance, as people and leadership, in its war against the US imperialism.”

She added “The Syrian people are exceptional in their capability of resistance as the acts during 4-years have failed to achieve their goals.”
