Moscow strongly condemns attacks on civilians

Moscow, SANA-Moscow strongly condemned on Wednesday all attacks on civilians, particularly those which are perpetrated for “religious or ethnic reasons”, affirming that Russia will continue its firm stance in supporting peace and reconciliation in Syria, Iraq and other countries in the Middle East.

Terrorists of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) on Monday captured 56 people from the villages of Tal Hermez, Tal Shamiram, located in the surrounding of Tal Tamr town in the countryside of Hasaka, northeastern Syria.

“Will we continue standing firm in defense of the Christians who are subjected to oppression and harassment by terrorists… and we urge other countries to join the Russian efforts,” A statement by the Russian foreign Ministry said.

It added that approaches to combat religious extremism and terrorist organizations in Syria and the Middle East would be only successful if they were applied through a comprehensive method according to an international legal framework.
