Lattakia, SANA – Minister of Social Affairs Kinda al-Shammat stressed that the Ministry ‘s work in the current year is focused on the development dimension through merging the civil society with the issues of society without restricting the work on the urgent relief affair only.
During her meeting with representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Lattakia coastal province, the Minister said “We sensed the heading of the NGOs towards the relief action… Although it is important, but there should be concentration on societal issues due to the emergence of new phenomena related to women, children and other categories that need help such as the elderly, the disabled and children separated from their families because of the war.”
She added that the meeting aims at focusing on issues related to the file of the societal protection and care, in addition to knowing the capability of these NGOs to achieve their goals and the need for them to depend on each other as an executive partner of the Ministry.
Al-Shammat noted to the importance of setting frameworks and networking action of NGOs, teams and the volunteer initiatives that concentrate on families of the martyrs and the war injured, pointing to “Takween” Project that is to be launched in the upcoming stage.
“The Ministry works on re-activating rural development centers and industrial units, encouraging the affected families, families of the martyrs and the war injured to benefit from training and qualification courses,” the Minister said.
Interpositions of the attendees focused on organizing relief efforts so that they turn out to be of productive nature that would provide income to families. They also tackled resolving the inactive NGOs and merging those which have similar work, in addition to providing galleries for permanent bazaars displaying products of these families.
