Arnous:  Local administration councils are executive tool to uplift society

Damascus, SANA- Prime Minister, Engineer Hussein Arnous, has affirmed that the local administration council elections are a message to all the enemies of Syria which affirms the Syrian people’s adherence to constitutional entitlements despite the terrorist war, adding that the participation in the elections means the adherence to the national rights and principles.

In a press statement after casting his vote today at the polling station at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Eng. Arnous underlined the importance of the local administration council elections, as the local administration is the citizen’s direct link with the state and it is the government’s executive tool for uplifting society.

“The elections that we are witnessing today across the country are a message to all the enemies of Syria which affirms its keenness at all times to complete the constitutional entitlements at the scheduled time,” Arnous said.

He noted that the large turnout by citizens who flocked to participate in the elections means the adherence to the national rights and principles.

In a similar statement after casting his vote at the same polling station, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Dr. Fayssal Mikdad, said “The constitutional entitlements haven’t stopped throughout the years of the war waged on Syria, and the Syrian people are determined to practice their right and duty in these entitlements.”

Mikdad noted that President Bashar al-Assad stressed that all constitutional entitlements, whether the local administration, the People’s Assembly, or the presidential elections, be exercised on their specified dates, which has been done during the past years, despite all the challenges and all schemes hatched by the West to prevent the achievement of these entitlements.

Mikdad added that the massive participation in the local administration council elections is an essential part of the democratic expression of the people’s desires and their responsibility for Syria’s present and future, saying “We hope that the successful candidates in the next stage will play an active role in the development process.”
