Damascus, SANA-Syrian businessmen discussed on Monday with a Russian economic delegation means of developing trade and economic relations between Syria and Russia to increase commercial exchange between the two countries.
Assistant Economy and Foreign Trade Minister Abdul-Salam Ali affirmed that Syria aspires for enhancing trade ties with Russia through finding a mechanism to broaden commercial exchange that covers all Syrian products, particularly vegetables, citrus, fruits and olive oil.
He said the Syrian side has the desire to hold exhibitions for the Syrian products in Sochi port and to import wheat, grains and other materials from Russia.
For his part, Aslan Banich, head of the Russian delegation, showed readiness to sign immediate contracts to hold a Fair for the Syrian products in Russia, calling for holding a workshop on collecting agriculture machines, establishing bakeries and factories for yogurts and cheese.
Samer Hassan, Chairman of the Syrian-Russian Businessmen council said there are many topics which could be discussed to sign contracts for importing goods from Russia like barley, corn and oils.
The Russian delegation comprised a number of companies which work in the domains of economy and trade and food.
