Aleppo, SANA – Electricity Minister Imad Khamis said a number of steps, both temporary and strategic, are being taken to improve the state of the electric power in Aleppo and increase power feed times.
During a meeting at Aleppo Power Company on Monday, Khamis stressed the need to realize justice in electric power distribution among areas in the province and among all provinces, noting that technical difficulties sometimes hinder these efforts, but the Ministry is working to resolve them.
He also reviewed the challenges facing the electricity sector, most significant of which is the constant terrorist attacks on power stations, transformers, and power lines, noting that between 2000 and 2010, there have been only 9 high-tension power line malfunctions, but in 2014 614 malfunctions were caused by terrorist attacks, which also claimed the lives of many workers in the sector and injured others.
A number of suggestions and ideas were posed during the meeting to achieve equitable distribution of electric power, with the participants calling for working to reactivate the thermal power station in the province.
