Damascus, SANA – A national volunteer initiative aimed at planting a million seedlings all across the provinces was launched Thursday under the title “We can make it green once again”.

A total of 3, 500 pine seedlings were planted in al-Sabboura area in Damascus Countryside starting the campaign, which was launched by the Revolutionary Youth Union (RYU) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform.

The campaign aims at expanding green areas, benefiting from the amount of rainfall witnessed in the past days, and promoting the need of protecting the vegetation cover and environment.

15,000 young men and women will participate in the campaign, which will run through the end of March.
