Fuel leakage in Banias thermal power plant controlled

Damascus, SANA- The maintenance teams at Banias Thermal Station in Tartous controlled the fuel leakage from one of the tanks.

Director General of the General Establishment for Electricity Generation, Mahmoud Ramadan, confirmed in a statement to SANA that the maintenance teams at the station controlled the fuel leakage from one of the tanks, dismissing that the accident was caused by a sabotage act.

Head of the Electricity Workers Syndicate at Tartous Workers Union, Dawoud Darwish, had earlier confirmed the control of the fuel leak.

He noted that a “crack and wear” in one of the fuel tanks at the thermal station led to the leakage of quantities of fuel into the sea, pointing out that the tank was filled with 15,000 tons of fuel.
