Beirut, SANA-Lebanese President, General Michel Aoun, called for declaring a state of health emergency to confront the spread of the novel Corona virus.
“The tragedy that we see at the gates of hospitals requires radical measures so that we can alleviate the catastrophic consequences of the outbreak of the virus,” President Aoun said at a meeting of the Supreme Defense Council session on Monday.
In turn, Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister, Hassan Diab, warned of the health situation Lebanon is witnessing, saying, “Unfortunately, we are facing a fearful health situation,” considering that the Corona epidemic has become out of control.
Lebanon registers high daily records in the number of infections and mortalities because of Corona. The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced yesterday that it recorded 16 deaths and 3,743 new cases of Corona, noting that the total number of infections reached 219,296 cases and 1606 deaths.
