Damascus, SANA-Civil society, NGOs, Ishtar Grandsons Association and Syrian figures launched on Wednesday the campaign of “Lift Blockade on Syria” calling for lifting the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria, particularly in regards to the health side.
The campaign began through addressing a letter to the UN Secretary General. The letter was handed to Khaled al-Misri, the Media official at the UN bureau in Damascus.
The letter expresses stances of civil society and the Syrian people who demand an immediate removal of those measures which contradict the UN Charter and call on international organizations to play their active role to cancel those sanctions.
“Ishtar Association, in cooperation with supporters and many establishments and a number of Syrian citizens, launched the campaign to call on the UN and other international organizations to help lift the unjust blockade imposed on the Syrian people, particularity during this period when the world confronts coronavirus,” Dr. Aysar Midani, Ishtar Chairman of the Board of Trustees told SANA.
Chairman of the Syrian Association for the UN, Dr. George Jabbour, for his part, added that the door is open for the signature on the letter through a number that was dedicated on the WhatsApp, affirming that a large number of citizens signed the letter.
