Zakharova: US occupation, terrorists obstruct evacuation of remaining residents at al-Rukban Camp

Moscow, SANA- Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the remaining displaced residents at al-Rukban Camp and al-Tanf region, near borders with Jordan, have not been evacuated as US occupation and terrorists prevent them from getting out the place.

Sputnik quoted Zakharova as saying in a press briefing on Thursday that the implementation of a UN plan to evacuate the rest of residents at al- Rukban camp has been postponed as Washington and its terrorists reject to give guarantees of safety.

She added that the main reason behind al-Rukban ‘s dilemma is the US occupation, and “this problem cannot be solved by sending humanitarian convoys only, especially as aid doesn’t reach the displaced persons, rather it remains at the hands of militants.”

Zakharova said that “the displaced citizens receive all the humanitarian and health support upon leaving al-Tanf area into lands under the control of the Syrian government.”

In a relevant context, zakharova said that the terrorist organizations have breached the de-escalation zone agreement in Idleb in the beginning of January once more and shelled sites of the Syrian Army and the nearby towns.

“The number of the terrorist attacks reached 60 ones per day, so, in light of these conditions, the Syrian army will respond to the hostile attacks launched by the terrorists,” Zakharova added.
