Syria participates in annual charity bazaar in Geneva

Geneva, SANA- Syria participated in the annual charity bazaar, organized by the United Nations Women’s Guild (UNWG), which started activities on Wednesday to raise funds for supporting humanitarian activities in the world.

The Syrian pavilion, which was organized by the Syrian permanent mission in Geneva, witnessed a large turnout as it showcased handmade products which reflect the deep-rootedness of the Syrian society and its culture and history.

Visitors of the Syrian pavilion hailed the second successive participation for Syria in this international charity activity.

They expressed appreciation for watching the exhibited Syrian products which affirm the recovery of the Syrian society in spite of all the harsh circumstances due to the terrorist war waged against Syria.

Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, Ambassador Hussam Eddin Ala, for his part, said that Syria’s participation constituted an opportunity for showcasing the traditional industries which embody the cultural and human heritage of Syria.

Ambassador Ala added that the Syrian participation also affirms the continuity of the economic activity in the country despite of the terrorism and the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people.

The opening was attended by Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva Tatiana Valovaya and a large number of senior permanent representatives of the UN member states and the accredited international organizations.
