SANA to launch Persian and Hebrew pages on Sunday

Damascus, SANA – The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) launched on Sunday two new pages in Persian and Hebrew on its website, joining the existing Arabic, English, French, Russian, Turkish, Chinese, and Spanish pages.

Last June, a new website of SANA was launched, featuring a new design to keep up with technological developments and present rich content.

The Agency also launched last August an English language newsfeed service that is open for subscription for international news agencies and various media and official institutions.

The flurry of newly launched services indicates the quick pace at which SANA has been moving forward over the past period in terms of developing and expanding its services.

The Persian page is a “qualitative leap” in SANA’s work as it “opens doors to a new audience who might be interested in what is going on in Syria,” said Nermine Khalil, a translator/editor at the page.

Mohammad Ahmad, another translator/editor for the Persian page, said “There ought to be a media window that addresses readers in Iran given its supportive stances towards the Syrian people.”

As for the Hebrew Page, translator/editor Khalid al-Hamad said the aim of opening this page is “to convey the truth about what is taking place in Syria to speakers of Hebrew.”

It is necessary, he added, to address the Israeli entity, which occupies Arab territories, including the Syrian Golan, since decades, “in its own language, which can far better serve the Resistance and its project against the occupation.”

The new service, al-Hamad said, will hopefully add to the efforts to expose the role which the Israeli entity has been playing in the terrorist war waged against Syria since 2011 in terms of its unlimited support to the terrorist groups.
