208 industrial, craft facilities with capital of SYP 18 billion start production in first quarter of 2019

Damascus, SANA- 208 industrial and craft facilities and projects with a capital of SYP 17.968 billion started production over the first quarter of the current year providing about 3,396 job opportunities.

A report by the Investment Directorate at the Industry Ministry revealed that 121 industrial facilities were established in different Syrian provinces and they entered the production stage with a capital estimated at SYP 4.555 billion and they provided 566 job opportunities.

The report showed that 4 registered facilities were established in Damascus Countryside, Hasaka and Hassia Industrial City according to the decree no. 8 for the year 2007 with a capital estimated at 12.9 billion and they provided 222 job opportunities.

Regarding the craft facilities which were established over the first quarter of the current year, the report indicated that 83 facilities were established with a capital estimated at SYP 349 million and they provided 162 job opportunities.

The craft facilities were established in Tartous (21 facilities), Hama (20 facilities), Homs (11 facilities) Daraa (10 facilities), Sweida (7 facilities) Lattakia (6 facilities) and Aleppo (5 facilities) and a single facility in Damascus and another one in Hasaka.

The report showed that the number of the licensed industrial facilities over the first quarter of the year 2019 reached up to 380 facilities with a capital of SYP 34.035 billion and they will provide 6,471 job opportunities when they will put into service.

The report noted that 366 industrial facilities were licensed according to the law no. 21 for the year 1958 with a capital reached up to SYP 31.678 billion and they will provide about 3,603 job opportunities after putting them into service.

The licensed facilities included 194 food facilities, 120 chemical facilities, 60 engineering facilities and 37 textile facilities.

Damascus countryside province ranked first among the Syrian provinces with regard to the number of the licensed facilities which reached up to 115, and it was followed by Aleppo 94 facilities, Daraa 46 facilities, Homs 20 facilities, Lattakia 19 facilities, Hama 19 facilities, Tartous 13 facilities, Quneitra 13 facilities and Hasaka 10 facilities.

While with regard to the number of the licensed facilities according to the decree no. 8 for the year 2007 reached up to 14 in different Syrian provinces with a capital estimated at SYP 2.3 billion and they will provide 2,868  job opportunities when they start production.
