Update-Al-Moallem and Velayati: Increasing coordination between Iran and Syria to face terrorism

Damascus, SANA – Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem on Wednesday discussed with Adviser to the Supreme Leader of Iran for International Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati the strategic relations between Syria and Iran and means to boost them in all fields.

The discussions also touched on developments in Syria and the region in light of political variables and the victories achieved on the ground by the Syrian Arab Army and its allies against terrorism.

The two sides stressed the need for increasing coordination and consultations between Iran and Syria to face terrorism and its supporters and to confront the hostile provocations and threats by Israel, the US, and their allies and pawns in the region.

Minister al-Moallem reviewed the latest developments in political fields and on the ground in Syria in light of the important military victories achieved by the Syrian Arab Army and its allies, praising the support provided by Iran to Syria in all fields.

For his part, Velayati affirmed that Iran will continue to support Syria in its battle against terrorism which targets its unity and the region’s stability, stressing that his country will continue to boost its strategic relations with Syria.

He also offered congratulations on the achievements realized by the Syrian Arab Army in Eastern Ghouta.

Later, Prime Minister Imad Khamis discussed with Velayati the bilateral relations and the importance of enhancing them in light of developments in the region.
