Venezuelan Embassy commemorates the 213th anniversary of Independence

Damascus, SANA- On the occasion of the 213th anniversary of Venezuela’s independence, the embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Damascus organized a celebration at the Al-Assad House for Culture and the Arts (The Opera).

In a speech delivered during the event, Venezuelan ambassador José Gregorio Biomorgi, highlighted the firmness of his country in the face of the challenges and pressures exerted by the United States, and referred to the struggle, both by Syria and Venezuela, against terrorism and colonialism in all its forms and manifestations.

 “Threats and pressures cannot bend the will of the Venezuelan people, who never accept being subordinated to any external force,” the diplomat reaffirmed.

He denounced that the United States Government claimed in 2015 that his country represents a threat to Washington’s national security, in an attempt to plunder Venezuela’s national resources.

The ambassador reiterated his country’s support for the Palestinian people in their struggle until victory is achieved and condemned the genocide that is being committed by the Israeli occupier against children and women.

In a speech given during the event, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Raad, conveyed the congratulations of Foreign Minister Fayssal Mikdad to the government and people of Venezuela on the anniversary of the independence occasion.

He stated that the relations that ties the two countries are deep-rooted, and are characterized by the common struggle against Western pressures that seek to undermine their firmness and resistance to American hegemony in the world.

Raad stressed Syria’s keenness to strengthen the relationship between the two friendly countries and develop it in all fields to rise to the level of the distinguished political relations that unite them.

He thanked Venezuela for its firm and constant stance of support for Syria during the terrorist war imposed on the country since 2011 and also for being on the side of the Palestinian people who are subjected to an unprecedented brutal genocide.

He added that Syria supported Venezuela in holding the presidential elections scheduled for the 28th of this month in accordance with the principles of its Constitution and in an embodiment of the aspirations and will of its people.

The ceremony included the screening of a documentary film about the stages of Venezuela’s independence, entitled: The Road to Carabobo.
