Speaker Abbas meets delegation from Central Council of Arab Teachers Federation

Damascus, SANA – Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hadiyeh Abbas on Monday met a delegation from the Central Council of Arab Teachers Federation.

During the meeting, Abbas underlined the role of teachers in spreading enlightenment and confronting terrorist and Takfiri concepts that are trying to poison the minds of youths, pointing out that convening the Central Council in Damascus shows the Federation’s commitment to pan-Arabism.

“We hope that the day will come when some Arabs who are involved in supporting terrorism would wake up, return to their senses, and cease their erroneous actions that will backfire against them and against their people without a doubt,” she said, voicing hope for establishing coordination among Arab states that are affected by terrorism.

For his part, the Federation’s Secretary-General Hisham Mukahal said that Syria’s steadfastness in the face of terrorism and the Syrian teachers’ confrontation of the terrorist mentality serve as a model for protecting the homeland and developing the human being.

He said that Syria is subjected to a conspiracy and terrorist war because it defends Arab national security, adding “we stand with Syria and are proud of its achievements against terrorism.”
