Damascus, Syria, March 29 (SANA) Syrian civil defense teams carried out more than 500 emergency operations across several provinces between March 19 and March 27, responding to widespread flooding caused by heavy rainfall.
The storms triggered flash floods and rising water levels in roads, homes and camps, along with partial structural damage and traffic accidents, with varying impact across provinces.
Civil defense teams opened more than 250 water channels and carried out around 200 operations to remove rainwater from homes, basements and shops.
They also constructed and reinforced earthen barriers extending more than 8.5 kilometers to protect residential areas.
Crews cleared 120 roads blocked by rocks, secured 10 damaged bridges and recovered around 50 vehicles stranded in mud or affected by low visibility. Operations also extended to more than 20 camps in northern Syria.
In Hasakah province, at least 120 families were evacuated from the Tal Hamis area, while more than 1,800 homes were affected by partial or complete flooding.
More than 150 vehicles and pieces of equipment were deployed, with teams continuing operations as rainfall persists in some areas.
