Syrian Defense Ministry spokesman: Military and security reinforcements have been deployed to Sweida in order to disperse clashes and control the situation there

Damascus, SANA – Ministry of Defense spokesman Colonel Hassan Abdul Ghani said: “The unfortunate local clashes that took place in Sweida governorate during the past 48 hours, which resulted in many casualties and injuries, have pained all Syrians and saddened their hearts”.

Col. Abdul Ghani stated that “The governorate’s institutional and administrative void, which has persisted for several months and allowed anarchy and insecurity to flourish, is directly to blame for these tragedies”.

“While the army units were carrying out their national tasks in resolving the conflict and establishing stability, their military posts were subjected to treacherous attacks by an outlawed armed group, which resulted in the death of eighteen of our soldiers and the wounding of several others” he added

“The Syrian Armed Forces will remain an indestructible barrier against disorder and a guarantee of the country’s security and stability. We pledge our people in Sweida that their safety, dignity, and means of subsistence are a trust in our hands and that we will never jeopardize them” Col. Abdul Ghani concluded.
