European Union welcomes formation of Syria’s supreme committee for parliamentary electi

European Union welcomes formation of Syria’s supreme committee for parliamentary electi

Brussels, SANA- The Chargé d’Affaires of the European Union for Syria, Mr. Michael Unmacht, expressed the EU’s welcome of the formation of the Supreme Committee for the People’s Assembly Elections.

In a post on the X platform, Unmacht said that“The European Union welcomes the announcement of the formation of the Supreme Election Committee, considering it an important milestone in shaping the next phase of Syria’s transition and in strengthening national governance that meets the aspirations of all Syrians.”

He added, “The transitional legislative authority will play a pivotal role in ensuring inclusivity, effective participation, and genuine representation of all Syrians in shaping their future. The European Union stands ready to offer its expertise in support of these efforts.”

Last Friday, President Ahmad al-Sharaa issued Presidential Decree No. 66 of 2025, establishing the Supreme Committee for the People’s Assembly Elections.
