During the meeting, held at the Ministry of Information, the minister emphasized that the current strategy aims to establish a media environment conducive to professional journalism, fostering an independent national media sector that invests in factual information rather than propaganda, while striving to compete in the news industry.

He also stated that work is underway to develop a media code of ethics, reinforcing professional standards in collaboration with media professionals, and expressed his hope to benefit from the French experience in this initiative.

The minister further discussed efforts to support press freedom and expand international media cooperation, including updating media licensing standards and implementing mechanisms to remove restrictive measures imposed by the deposed regime, which had hindered the freedom of Arab and international media outlets in Syria.

For his part, the French ambassador reaffirmed his country’s willingness to provide support across various media fields, emphasizing the readiness of French media organizations to offer advanced training programs for Syrian journalists.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister al-Mustafa expressed gratitude to the French government for its role in facilitating the lifting of European sanctions imposed on the Syrian people, emphasizing that media cooperation with France marks a significant step towards advancing Syrian media projects in the coming phase.
