Syria and Britain debate potential for educational collaboration

Damascus, SANA-Secretary of the National Commission for Science and Culture Abdul Karim Al-Qadri, and Advisor to the Minister of Education, Ahmed Murad, discussed Thursday with Peter McDormant, Director of the Syria Development Office at the British Foreign Office, and the accompanying delegation, ways to enhance prospects for educational cooperation and areas of mutual interest.

Qadri during his discussion, focused on: rehabilitating school infrastructure, facilitating the return of displaced students to their cities and towns, allocating non-formal education programs in schools, implementing accelerated learning programs to make up for students’educational losses, developing teachers’ skills and subjecting them to training courses, emphasizing the integration of artificial intelligence in education, and designating an activity room in each school to provide mental health services for students.

Qadri noted the support of the British side for Syria through the “Manahel Program,” which works on building the capacities of students and teachers in northwestern Syria due to its positive impact.

McDormand expressed readiness to continue and expand support for Syrian students through the “Manahil” educational support program and to enhance its quality.
