Damascus, SANA – The Syrian Arab Republic condemned “in the strongest terms” the treacherous Israeli aggression carried out Tuesday morning, where Israel conducted air strikes coordinated assaults by drones and warplanes that targeted areas inside the Syrian territory, causing the martyrdom of many military and security personnel and innocent civilians.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement “This criminal act is a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic, a flagrant breach of the principles of international law and the UN Charter, and an unacceptable example of ongoing aggression and foreign interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states”.
“This aggression came at a deliberate time and in a suspicious context, aimed at destabilizing national stability and striking Syrian unity at a fateful moment when the Syrian state seeks to consolidate security and recover from the consequences of the war” the ministry added.
“In the face of this dangerous escalation, the Syrian Arab Republic: Holds the Israeli side fully responsible for this aggression and its consequences, Calls on the United Nations, the Security Council and the international community to stand up to their legal and humanitarian responsibilities and clearly and effectively condemn this sinful aggression, and affirms its firm commitment to its legitimate right to defend its territory and people by all means guaranteed by international law”, the ministry stated.
The ministry said: In this context, the Syrian state affirms its keenness to protect all the Syrian citizens with no exception, foremost the Druze community (Druze monotheists), who constitute an authentic part of the national identity and the single Syrian fabric, and who have always been an example of patriotism, honor and heroism in defending the land and the homeland”.
The ministry called on the honorable people of Sweida governorate to stand united behind their state and their national army, and to refuse to be drawn behind any suspicious projects or chaotic calls, because history is intolerant and will attest the stances between those who stood by their country and those who failed it or colluded against it.
The ministry emphasized that Syrian state will remain as its people have always known it to be, inseparable and undividable, strong by the will of its people, free by its decision, and generous by the blood of its martyrs.
