Pedersen welcomes Trump's remarks regarding the lifting of sanctions on Syria

New York, SANA-UN Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, has welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks regarding the lifting of sanctions imposed on Syria.

According to the UN News website, Pedersen stated in a press briefing on Tuesday evening that the move aligns with his continued calls for meaningful measures in this regard. He highlighted that Syrians, both inside the country and abroad, have been advocating for a broad and urgent easing of sanctions.

The UN official emphasized the significance of this step in facilitating the provision of essential services, including healthcare and education, reviving Syria’s economy, unlocking meaningful regional support, and enabling Syrians to actively participate in national reconstruction efforts.
