Doha,March 9 (SANA) Qatar’s Ministry of Defense said early Monday that its forces intercepted a new missile attack as Iranian strikes on Gulf states continued.
AFP reported loud explosions in Doha as the attack unfolded.
The latest attack comes only hours after the Qatari Ministry of Defense announced the interception of six ballistic missiles and two cruise missiles launched by Iran towards Qatar, with no casualties reported. The ministry added that four ballistic missiles fell harmlessly in uninhabited areas or within Qatari territorial waters.
Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, stressed the urgent need to reduce military escalation in the region.
The Qatari Prime Minister reiterated his country’s firm rejection of the pretexts used by Tehran to justify its attacks, describing the situation as a “sense of betrayal” and a grave mistake, especially since the targeted states had repeatedly affirmed their non-involvement in any conflict against their neighbours.
