Hama Water Resources Directorate, "HEKS/EPER "agree to carry out maintenance work on

Hama, SANA- The Hama Water Resources Directorate has reached an agreement with the international organization ” HEKS/EPER ” to carry out mechanical and electrical maintenance on the service infrastructure of the Rastan Dam in Syria.

The dam suffered damage due to previous acts of sabotage, and the restoration aims to improve its performance, ensuring its continued operation in managing irrigation and providing water.

Engineer Mustafa Samaq, Director of Water Resources in Hama, stated that the project is part of broader efforts to rebuild damaged infrastructure. It directly contributes to enhancing the dam’s efficiency, assisting farmers, and promoting economic and social stability in surrounding communities by improving irrigation services and water resource management.

Samaq explained that the work includes rehabilitating essential mechanical and electrical systems in the dam according to quality and safety standards, under the supervision of technicians from both sides. The goal is to enhance the dam’s operational efficiency and minimize water resource waste.

The Rastan Dam is considered a vital water facility in Syria, particularly in the central region, playing a crucial role in supplying water for agricultural purposes.
