Iraq welcomes new Syria and desires cooperation between the two countries governments

Baghdad, SANA-The Iraqi government spokesman, Bassem Al-Awadi, expressed his country’s welcome to the new Syria, and its desire for serious cooperation between the governments of the two brotherly countries.

“Iraq and its government were the first to show interest in the new Syrian reality, and signs and signals of welcome and readiness to cooperate were issued from Baghdad. The most important thing is the serious Iraqi decision not to interfere in Syrian affairs and to accept what the new Syrian equation produces, and the acceptance of the people of Syria of their new reality and administration.” Al-Awady said in a statement to the Iraqi newspaper Al-Sabah Monday.

He added that Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani will visit Baghdad to strengthen diplomatic relations between the two neighboring brotherly countries.

He noted that this visit will contribute to achieving the desired goal, and will constitute a starting point for starting new relations based on cooperation and mutual respect, especially since the visit will address all the important files that concern the two countries.

Al-Awadi highlighted that Iraq desires serious cooperation between the governments of two brotherly neighboring countries, as have great opportunities in various economic, investment, security, and other fields.
