Damascus, Sept. 7 (SANA) Two people were killed and 15 others injured in 86 fires and traffic accidents across Syria on Sunday, the Syrian Civil Defense at the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management said Monday.
Civil Defense teams responded to 13 traffic accidents across the country that killed two people and injured 14 others, the service said.
Teams provided first aid to the injured before transferring them to hospitals for further treatment. They cleared debris from the accident sites and secured the affected areas.
The Civil Defense urged drivers to reduce speed, check the technical condition of their vehicles, including brakes and windshield wipers, and avoid distractions and unsafe behavior while driving, such as using mobile phones.
Civil Defense teams responded separately to 73 fires involving homes, commercial shops, grass, trees, garbage and electrical wires. The fires were extinguished and the affected sites cooled.
One person was injured in the fires and received first aid, while the incidents caused material damage to property.
The Civil Defense urged people not to light fires in forested areas or agricultural fields and warned against throwing cigarette butts or glass containers along roadsides, particularly near crops and forests.
It advised against burning dry grass around homes or along roadsides and called for its removal using safe methods.
