Damascus, Sept. 03 (SANA) An Egyptian civil aviation delegation inspected Aleppo International Airport on Thursday as Syria and Egypt coordinate toward resuming direct flights between the two countries, Syria’s General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport said on Telegram.
The delegation, comprising officials from Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation and Civil Aviation Authority, was headed by Yasser Mohamed Abdel Halim Mohamed, head of the Central Administration for Aviation Security.
The Syrian aviation authority said the field visit was part of technical inspections commonly conducted in line with international best practices before air services begin.
During the tour, the delegation reviewed operational and security aspects of the airport as well as measures currently in place.
The inspection comes as the two countries continue the coordination required to resume direct flights, a step aimed at strengthening air connectivity and facilitating passenger travel between Syria and Egypt.
Fadi Mas’har, the airport’s supervision and follow-up official, and Aleppo International Airport Director Ihsan Oweidat accompanied the Egyptian delegation during the tour.
The delegation conducted a similar field inspection at Damascus International Airport on Monday, reviewing procedures and measures there ahead of the planned resumption of direct flights between Syria and Egypt.
The planned restoration of direct air links is aimed at increasing air traffic, facilitating passenger movement and strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.
