Damascus, Aug 31(SANA) Syrian Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Kabawat met the Vatican’s Apostolic Nuncio to Syria, Archbishop Luigi Roberto Cona, in Damascus on Sunday to discuss expanding humanitarian and development cooperation and strengthening social cohesion across Syria.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor published on its Telegram channel the meeting focused on coordinating efforts to support Syria’s recovery and organizing the work of organizations and other entities involved in humanitarian and development activities.
The two sides stressed the importance of aligning those activities with government and ministry strategies to help ensure assistance reaches those in need efficiently, according to the ministry.
The meeting comes as Syrian authorities seek to strengthen coordination with international and humanitarian actors involved in supporting communities affected by years of crisis.
On June 7, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad al-Shaibani received a copy of Cona’s credentials as the Vatican’s ambassador to Syria.
