Governorates, Sept. 02 (SANA) Two people were killed and 38 others injured in traffic accidents and fires across Syrian provinces over the past 24 hours, the Civil Defense said Wednesday on its Telegram channel.
Civil Defense teams from the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management responded to 27 traffic accidents that left two people dead and 34 civilians injured.
The teams provided first aid to the injured before taking them to hospitals for further treatment. They cleared debris from the accident sites and secured the affected areas.
Civil Defense teams responded to 70 fires across Syria during the same period. The fires affected homes, commercial premises, grass, trees, garbage and electrical wiring.
Firefighters extinguished the blazes and cooled the affected sites to prevent the fires from reigniting.
Four people — one firefighter and three civilians — were injured in the fires and received first aid. The remaining damage was limited to property.
The Civil Defense renewed its call on residents not to light fires in forested areas or agricultural fields and urged people not to throw cigarette butts or glass containers along roadsides, particularly near crops and forests.
It further advised residents not to burn dry grass around homes or along roadsides and to remove it using safe methods.
The latest figures follow another series of incidents reported Monday, when one person was killed and 16 others were injured in traffic accidents and fires across several Syrian provinces.
