Syria’s Transport Minister, Yarob Badr, met with a visiting delegation from the IsDB, led by regional director for Cairo, Noureddine Mabrouk. The discussions focused on key strategic projects related to infrastructure development, digital transformation, and sustainable transport, among other areas.

Minister Badr emphasized the importance of the bank’s support, particularly for two new road projects: the Bab al-Hawa road, which connects the Turkish border in the north to the Jordanian border in the south, and a route from the Tartous port to the Iraqi border. The meeting also covered the Damascus Metro project.

The IsDB officials expressed their support for the ministry’s efforts to strengthen its staff’s technical capabilities and provide training for managing major projects in the sector. Noureddine Mabrouk highlighted the bank’s commitment to continued cooperation with the Syrian Ministry of Transport, praising the significant progress made in several key areas.

The meeting is part of Syria’s broader efforts to revive the country’s economy through vital sectors, particularly transport, energy, and industry.
