Islamabad, Aug. 26 (SANA) Pakistan welcomed the United States’ decision to lift sanctions against Syria, saying the move would support the Syrian economy’s recovery and growth while contributing to regional peace and stability.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar said in a post on X that the decision would not only help the Syrian economy move toward recovery and growth, but would also contribute to regional peace and stability.
Dar reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, saying Islamabad stood ready to further expand bilateral cooperation with Syria to achieve lasting peace and prosperity.
The U.S. State Department on Monday rescinded Syria’s designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism following the required congressional review process. The move was announced alongside additional U.S. measures providing sanctions relief related to Syria.
