Damascus, July 27 (SANA) One person was killed and 24 others were injured in traffic accidents and fires reported across Syria during the past 24 hours, according to the Syrian Civil Defense under the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management.

In a statement posted on its Telegram channel on Monday, the Civil Defense said its teams responded to 20 traffic accidents, which claimed one life and injured 20 people. Emergency crews provided first aid, transported the injured to hospitals for treatment, cleared the accident sites, and secured the affected areas.

The Civil Defense renewed its call on motorists to reduce speed, ensure their vehicles are mechanically roadworthy—particularly brakes and windshield wipers—and avoid distractions while driving, especially the use of mobile phones.

Civil Defense teams also extinguished 129 fires that broke out in homes, commercial premises, grasslands, trees, waste disposal sites and electrical cables. Crews cooled the affected sites to prevent the fires from reigniting.

The agency urged residents to refrain from lighting fires in forests and agricultural fields, avoid discarding cigarette butts and glass bottles along roadsides—particularly near crops and wooded areas—and remove dry vegetation around homes and along roads using safe methods rather than burning it.

The fires injured four civilians, who received first aid before being transferred to hospitals, and also caused material damage.

According to the Civil Defense, its teams responded on Saturday to 25 traffic accidents across Syria that resulted in 35 deaths and injuries among 45 civilians, in addition to 129 fires that injured one civilian and caused property damage.
