Damascus, May 4 (SANA) Five people were killed and 22 others injured in traffic accidents and fires across Syria over the past 24 hours, authorities said on Monday.
Civil defense teams responded to 18 road accidents that left five people dead and 21 civilians injured, according to a statement from the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management.
Rescue teams provided first aid at the scene and transferred the injured to hospitals, while the bodies were taken to forensic authorities.
Officials urged drivers to exercise caution due to current weather conditions, calling for reduced speed, particularly on curves and intersections, and stressing the importance of vehicle safety checks and avoiding distractions such as mobile phone use while driving.
Separately, firefighting teams responded to 22 incidents across the country, including 12 in homes and commercial properties and 10 in other locations.
One man sustained burns in a fire in Idlib countryside and was transferred to Atmeh Hospital after receiving first aid, while other fires caused material damage only.
The incidents follow a series of accidents reported on May 2 that left one woman dead and six others injured.
