Damascus, June21(SANA) Arab and foreign ambassadors attending the launch conference of the 63rd Damascus International Fair on Monday described the event as a leading economic platform that brings together business leaders, investors and companies from around the world, saying itplays a vital role in expanding trade, investment and economic partnerships ahead of its scheduled opening from August 26 to September 4, 2026.

Bahrain’s Ambassador to Syria, Waheed Mubarak Sayyar, told  SANA that the Damascus International Fair enjoys a distinguished regional and international reputation, serving as an important commercial and economic forum that connects business leaders,investors and companies from various countries.  

He said many industrialists and businesspeople from the Gulf region and other parts of the world are keen to participate in or visit the fair to explore the products and industries on display and discuss opportunities for trade, investment and cooperation with their Syrian counterparts and other participating countries.

Al-Sayyar added that the 63rd edition is expected to attract broad international participation from countries and companies, expressing hope that it will help create new investment opportunities, strengthen economic partnerships and support Syria’s reconstruction efforts.  

Palestinian ambamssador to Syria Samir al-Rifai described the Damascus International Fair as one of the region’s oldest and most prestigious trade exhibitions, saying it serves as a platform that brings together a widerange of economic activities and participants from numerous countries.  

Speaking to SANA, Al-Rifai said the 63rd edition reflects the economic momentum currently taking shape in Syria through the broad participation of countries and companies.

He added that Palestine remains committed to taking part in the fair despite the difficult conditions it faces under occupation.

He said several Palestinian companies will participate in this year’s event, showcasing a range of agricultural and industrial products. Although the Palestinian participation is modest, he said,it underscores the fair’s significance as an international economic platform bringing together countries and businesses.  

He also expressed hope for the success of this year’s edition and for the fair’s continued growth in the years ahead.

Syria to hold 63rd Damascus International Fair from Aug. 26 to Sept. 4

South Africa’s Ambassador to Syria, Ashraf Yusef Suliman,said the fair offers an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into Syria’s economy and its investment potential. He noted that information gathered during the event will be shared with South Africa to introduce the country’s private sector to the opportunities available and encourage its contribution to Syria’s reconstruction and development.

He added that South African companies and the private sector are interested in expanding economic cooperation with Syria, stressing the importance of strengthening business ties between the two countries in the coming period.  

Earlier on Monday, the General Organization for Fairs and International Markets announced the launch of the 63rd Damascus International Fair, which will be held from August 26 to September 4, 2026, under the patronage of President Ahmed al-Sharaa and organized by the Ministry of Economy and Industry in cooperation with the Damascus International Fair Administration.
