Damascus, SANA – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the decision to reinstate the membership of the Syrian Arab Republic in the Union for the Mediterranean, considering it a positive step that reflects a growing recognition of Syria’s pivotal role in the region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a press release on Monday: “This step is the fruit of diligent diplomatic efforts to strengthen cooperation with Mediterranean countries based on dialogue and sustainable development”, noting that “this membership opens new horizons for cooperation in the fields of education, green economy, energy and transportation.”

“Syria reiterates its commitment to the principles of the Union and expresses its gratitude to the countries that supported its return”, emphasizing that “this membership constitutes an important milestone in the process of its openness and strengthening its regional and international presence” the ministry added.
