Al-Omar: Syrian diplomacy managed to bring Syria back to international arena

Damascus, July 11 (SANA) Director of the Consular Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mohammad al-Omar, affirmed that Syrian diplomacy has succeeded, in record time, to bring Syria back to the core of the regional and international arenas.

Speaking on the X platform Friday, al-Omar stated that the initiation of procedures to remove Syria’s designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism marks a historic milestone that confirms the restoration of the country’s position and opens a new chapter of recovery and international partnerships.

This follows a message received by President Ahmad al-Sharaa last Wednesday from U.S. President Donald Trump, in which he confirmed notifying Congress of his decision to initiate the process of removing Syria’s designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism.

In accordance with the law, Congress will conduct a 45-day review period to finalize and enact this decision.
