Raqqa, June 22 (SANA) Syria’s Minister of Information Khaled Zaarour met Raqqa Governor Abdulrahman Salama on Monday to discuss the state of media work in the province, as part of a series of visits to Syrian governorates, the ministry said.

The meeting focused on reviewing the performance of media institutions in Raqqa and exploring ways to develop and improve their work.

Zaarour is also expected to meet local journalists to hear their views and proposals, and to discuss key challenges facing media work in the province, according to the ministry.

On Sunday, Zaarour met Deir Ezzor Governor Ziad al–Ayash to discuss the media situation in the province and key priorities for its development in line with its geographic characteristics, as well as the role of media in supporting development plans and reconstruction efforts in eastern Syria.

During a meeting with media professionals from state, private and independent outlets, as well as activists, Zaarour stressed the importance of journalists’ role in the coming phase in reflecting the realities and aspirations of local communities.

He said the ministry’s plan includes specialized training programs ahead of the planned launch of a radio and television center in Deir Ezzor.

Zaarour also emphasized the need to safeguard media workers’ rights in the province, including employment opportunities and access to necessary equipment, noting that the ministry is working on comprehensive, rather than partial, solutions to strengthen the media sector.
