Aleppo, June 7 (SANA) Passenger traffic through Aleppo International Airport rose to 40,451 in May from 24,854 in April, an increase of 62.8%, according to figures released by the Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport.
Data published on the authority’s Telegram channel showed that arrivals increased to 18,209 in May from 12,214 in April, while departures rose to 22,242 from 12,640 over the same period.
The number of flights operating through the airport climbed to 412 in May, up from 264 in April, while the number of operating airlines remained unchanged at seven.
On Saturday, the authority reported that more than 148,000 passengers passed through Damascus International Airport in May on 1,532 flights.
In separate posts on X, Civil Aviation Authority Head Omar Hosari said 11,801 aircraft transited Syrian airspace in May 2026, compared with 2,468 during the same month a year earlier, representing an increase of about 378%.
Hosari said the growth reflects increasing confidence in Syrian airspace and ongoing efforts to improve air navigation services, safety standards and operational efficiency.
He added that the authority aims to sustain the upward trend through further service improvements and measures designed to strengthen airline confidence in Syrian aviation infrastructure.
