Berlin, May 31 (SANA) The Syrian Community in Germany organized a cultural and social event in the western German city of Duisburg on Saturday aimed at supporting Syrian women and promoting their participation in Syria’s reconstruction efforts.
The event, titled “Under One Roof,” brought together members of the Syrian community and featured art exhibitions, handicrafts, traditional Syrian food and heritage displays.
Organizers also held auctions of artwork, with proceeds designated to support Syrian women and help cover the costs of medical procedures for some beneficiaries.
Yasser Shehadeh, director of the Syrian Community in Germany, said the initiative was organized by the Community’s Women’s Office and sought to empower Syrian women and strengthen their role in reconstruction and community development efforts.
He added that the event also aimed to promote social solidarity and cooperation among Syrians living in Germany.
Juman al-Zein, head of the Women’s Office, said the gathering formed part of a broader program of activities supporting Syrian women abroad.
She said the association was working to engage Syrian professionals and skilled women in Germany and draw on their expertise in support of community and women’s initiatives.
Participants said the event provided an opportunity to celebrate Eid al-Adha, strengthen ties within the Syrian community and support projects focused on women’s empowerment.
The event comes as Syrian communities abroad continue initiatives aimed at maintaining links with their homeland and contributing to reconstruction and development efforts.
